The Fiona Wood Foundation developed the Ben and Bella Superheroes Burn Prevention Education Program in partnership with Chevron Australia. The aim of the book series is to ensure children across Western Australia have the opportunity to learn about the causes of burns, prevention and simple burns first aid.
To enable us to spread these important burn safety messages, we have directly mailed all metro and regional primary schools and education services in WA a resourse pack that included
- 1x storybook from the three-part series and the associated teacher guide.
The direct mail list was developed using the Western Australian Education Department June Dataset, and we ensured that any classification that had children enrolled from Kindy – Year 2 would receive a resourse pack. The following schools and education services will receive a Ben and Bella pack:
- Remote community schools
- Community kindergartens
- Distance education
- Education and language support services
- Public primary schools
- Non-government primary schools
In total, we sent out 960 Ben and Bell Storybooks and associated teacher guides!
We hope to see the schools and services embrace this valuable resource and embed the burn prevention program into their curriculum so that together we can continue to educate children in their early years and equip them with the knowledge and skills they will have for life.
We are incredibly proud of the Ben & Bella Burn Prevention Education Program, and we want to thank Chevron Australia, who, through their commitment to creating healthier communities, have helped us with the funding to develop this program and provide the school and education services with a complimentary storybook and teacher guide.
The mailout is a significant milestone in our goal of spreading burns awareness among all Western Australian children. We plan to continue expanding the Ben & Bella Superheroes Burn Prevention Program in the future and hope to continue making the storybooks accessible to everyone in our community.
